04/07/2005: "Town Proclamation"

Mayor Gary Boothman has proclaimed April 3rd thought April 9th, 2005 as The Week Of The Young Child, and presented Joyce Sobel, of the San Juan Island Family Resource Center with an official proclamation. The Proclamation declares, in part:

"the strength and compassion of our community is reflected in the joy we help create in our youngest members, and the joy they return to us."

The Resource Center is a non-profit corporation, and offers programs and services, resources and referrals that are intended "to build on the strengths and capacities of our island families."

The Center is supported by grants and contributions from a large cross-section of local and state organizations, as well as local and state non-profit organizations.
