Considering Unification
The Mexican government has just published a manual instructing their citizens how to successfully enter the U.S. illegally. This opens it all up now. It's time to stop playing border games and ask, "How many pesos do you want for your country?" This is a classic win-win deal. Think about it:..
We need their labor.
They need the protection of our labor laws.
We need more children to replace our aging population.
They have big families that need our schools and medical facilities.
We need their oil.
They need nice cars, better roads, and help to get the oil.
We need their waterfront real estate for our many retirees.
They need legal jobs to pay Social Security so baby boomers can retire.
We need volunteers for our armed forces.
They are a strong and brave people.
(They would become a world superpower upon closing).
They need clean water and better plumbing.
We have the environmental regulation and technology.
They need satellite TV and cell phones.
We have guys that will promise to provide these and may get around to it someday.
They need to preserve their farmlands, wilderness, and restore historic sites.
We have all kinds of "greener than thou" activists with nothing better to do.
We could use their tropical growing areas to provide fresh produce all year.
They need to be where it's cooler in the summer.
We need better soccer teams.
They need real football franchises competing in the NFL.
We can cancel their debt.
They can help us pay ours down.
They need justice.
We have a surplus of lawyers.
They need social services
We have an entitlement culture.
They love our country: "20 million illegal aliens can't be wrong".
I just don't see the downside. We have so much in common. We all eat some Mexican foods, many of us speak a little Spanish and many of them a little English, we have a shared work ethic, and we all treat each other like family. We should make a generous offer. After all, if they are going to be encouraged to storm the borders and move North shouldn't we get the real estate that goes with them? It is time to merge.
