10/21/2005: "The Journal Wants to Set Record Straight"

Dear Editor:

Regarding Tom Munsey's letter: "Green Party Is Serving The County".

The Sept. 6 candidates' and issues forum was co-sponsored by The Journal and Mullis Community Senior Center. It was a forum for issues and candidates on the Sept. 20 primary election ballot: The San Juan Island School District's capital projects levy and the candidates for District 3 county commissioner.

Steve Ludwig was not a candidate in the primary election.The Journal hosted the Sept. 6 primary election forum because the League of Women Voters did not schedule one. The Journal did not sponsor a general election forum because one was scheduled by the League. If the League had not scheduled a forum, The Journal would have.
