09/28/2018: "EMT Applications Open"

San Juan Island Emergency Medical Services (SJIEMS) will soon add a new generation of Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) when the next formal training commences in January 2019. Applications are available now thru October 15th, 2018.

As always, the focus of the classes will be on assessing and managing respiratory, cardiac and trauma emergencies both at the scene and in the ambulance en route. Over the years, the best EMTs have consistently exhibited technical skills combined with the compassion, communication and calm leadership that inspire confidence in patients and their families.

After graduation, an individual’s skills are honed through the organization’s commitment to lifelong learning. Many current EMTs have been volunteering for more than 10 years, which earns them the rank of Senior EMT and underscores the supportive work environment offered through SJIEMS.

San Juan Island EMS consistently ranks in the top 10 nationally for cardiac arrest survival rates and has more than 40 years of experience providing emergency services to the Town of Friday Harbor, San Juan Island and the islands of Brown, Stuart, Johns, Spieden, Pearl and Henry. The EMT training application process is highly competitive and the training demanding. Pick up an application packet at the EMS Station, 1079 Spring St, or download a form on
