08/18/2017: "Matching Grant Program At Fair For Island Stage Left"

The San Juan Island Community Foundation is helping our efforts to bring back Shakespeare Under the Stars by adding 50% to every contribution earmarked for Island Stage Left during this year’s County Fair.

Stage Left’s single biggest challenge in producing Shakespeare’s plays is actor housing, as the Bard did not write for small casts. While they have some wonderful supporters who contribute actor housing, due to a variety of circumstances, this past year they lost five housing slots they were unable to replace.

This year, all donations received through this Community Foundation matching grant program will be used to defray the cost of housing actors for this coming summer’s production. And with your generous support they will be able to celebrate our platinum anniversary the way we should, with “Shakespeare Under the Stars”.

How to take advantage of the match: During the Fair, August 16-19, stop by at the Community Foundation’s booth in the main exhibition building and contribute with cash, check or credit card, specifying Island Stage Left as the recipient. During the Fair, the Foundation will also match your donations made through its website: (click on the “donate now” link).
