07/06/2012: "&Large $ Grants For FH Port"
The Port of Friday Harbor Commissioners accepted an offer of grant funds from Washington State Department of Transportation/Aviation Division (WSDOT-AD )on June 28 to be used for Airport reconstruction,
The Aviation Division grant, in the amount of $90,782, will provide a portion of the “local matching funds” required for this summer’s FAA-funded Taxiway Reconstruction Project.
The state program helps airports in Washington to maintain and improve their facilities by matching federal grants.
Total Federal grant funds in the amount of $3,389,599 will be used for the project.
The State Department of Transportation has provided approximately $179,000 for previous projects at Friday Harbor Airport.
During the first round of the 2011-2013 biennium grants, WSDOT awarded $941,024 to 25 airports for 30 different projects.
