01/01/2012: "Feast of Epiphany"
Join the Friday Harbor Lutheran and Episcopal Congregations on Thursday, January 5, at 6 pm for a celebration of the Feast of Epiphany.
A service of Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. David’s Episcopal Church on the corner of Park and Marguerite. After the service, a Twelfth Night Party will be held in the Church Undercroft.
Christmastide, or the Twelve Days of Christmas, ends on January 5th, which is Epiphany Eve. The Feast of Epiphany celebrates the visit of the Wise Men to the infant Jesus. A traditional King Cake will be served at the Twelfth Night Party. Three small baby dolls will be hidden in the cake. The three people who find a baby in their cake become the Kings (or Queens) for the night. Recalling the precious gifts and spices brought by the Wise Men, guests are asked to bring a savory appetizer to share.
