10/31/2011: "Vote On Critical Areas Tuesday?"
The County Council will hold a special "early start" meeting Tuesday (11-01-11, 8:45 am) to continue the public hearing (for deliberations only) on a proposed ordinance (. pdf 656\k file) that is part of the section of the CAO, and will require new professional reports -and in some cases 10' topo surveys- and studies.
If passed as proposed by staff, the ordinance will, under some conditions & interpretations, required 200 foot setbacks from any area, and will require extensive professional reports and survey work for many developments now exempt by current regulations.
The proposed changes are part of the GENERAL REGULATIONS FOR CRITICAL AREAS (CAO) update, in which the State requires existing land use ordinances be reviewed to see if they conform to at least the minimum state standards, by using the best available science (BAS) adopted by the council to review the existing rules.
