08/10/2011: "Permits Remain Stagnant"
One of the reasons the County is in financial trouble is the drop off in permit applications for building and land use, and the corresponding drop off in sales tax that results from the absence of construction sales and work; and the ripple of less construction means less construction related use of the dump.
The data for July did show a spike in permit revenue of $134,700.00
However, unless things pickup, the County is looking at a short fall of $400,000.00 (+/-) below budget at the end of the year.
As for the noted uptick in revenue, while the volume of permits has dropped off, some larger permit applications are already in process, and these bump up the numbers.
