05/12/2011: "Update On Principal Search"

May 11, 2011; -from SJISD Superintendent Rick Thompson: On May 12, 2011 the search committee will reconvene to discuss the recruitment process for interim principals, potential candidates for the position, and the timelines necessary for hiring. Following the meeting, the district will share with the public the status of the interim search.

The district search committee comprised of parents, staff, and district officials met to review the qualifications of 28 applicants who showed interest in the leadership position of elementary principal.

All applications and support paperwork were carefully screened by each member of the committee. Following the screening process, eight candidates were chosen for semi-finalist interviews, and seven candidates chose to be interviewed.

The committee has been disappointed that several candidates have chosen to withdraw from further interviews for a variety of personal reasons.
