05/06/2011: "Spring Plant Sale"

(Master Gardeners Susan Rosenberg, Marilyn Kline and Catherine J Clowers assist buyers at 3007 sale)
The WSU Master Gardeners held their annual Spring Plant Sale Saturday on San Juan Island; just in time for Mother’s Day giving!
Vegetables are grown organically by local Master Gardeners, and many are grown from their own saved seeds.
They offered tomatoes galore, squashes, cucumbers, brassicas, peppers, basil and other herbs, hanging baskets, and a variety of hardy perennials at a great price! Proceeds benefit the WSU Master Gardener program, including the demonstration garden which grows produce for the local food bank.
The annual spring sale is both a fundraising event and an opportunity for contact between the Master Gardeners and the general public, that may not be aware of the Washington State University program “that provides university training to volunteers for the purpose of enabling them to serve their communities through horticulture, gardening and pest management.”
