04/26/2011: "Forum For Potential School Board Members"

A Forum for those considering running for a school board position was held at the SJI Grange to "provide learning opportunities and resources to help candidates learn about the many issues facing the school district."

The agenda was as follows:

Welcome and Statement of Purpose

Panel Discussion and Questions

Review of Election Process and Identification of Resources

Identification of Groups and Networking Opportunities

Follow up and plans for where to go next

The stated purpose of the forum is to:. The local SJISD Education Association also is planning to conduct a program for potential candidates. This is not about the current board and superintendent, and various other meetings and debates will likely follow. Our primary goal is just to inform and sort out who might be good candidates and help them with the election process."
