03/18/2011: "Celebrity Golf Classic"

Pat O’Day, Chairman of The Islander’s Bank San Juan Celebrity Golf Classic and Salmon Barbeque today announced additions to the tournaments Board of Directors. This, as preparations are being made for this year’s 25th Anniversary event on June 3rd and 4th.

New Board members are Tawny Martell Galligan of Friday Harbor, Jeff Aaron, a Seattle broadcaster who has participated for the past 20 years and Lars Sorenson, The Entertainment Director at Snoqualmie Casino of North Bend. Both Aaron and Sorenson will join O’Day in the key effort of bringing celebrities to San Juan Island for the fund raiser.

Other board members include Ron Bates, Friday Harbor Suites Manager and Secretary Treasure Becki Day, an owner of Vinny’s Restaurant in Friday Harbor. Melissa Posenjak or Farmers Insurance is the new marketing volunteer calling on local businesses to gain participation.

Again, ten local non-profits will share the proceeds of this effort which has produced more than one half million dollars over the years. A star studded cast is taking shape promising a thrilling weekend for all of us here on the island and out at the San Juan Golf & Country Club.
