Trails Committee general meeting is tomorrow, Wed., Feb.16th at Whidbey Island Bank, 4:45p for social time; 5p meeting starts.

Weds. Feb. 15th, 4-6 pm : The first four sections of the San Juan Islands Scenic Byway Corridor Management Plan are ready for public review at The San Juan Islands Scenic Byway website.The Steering Committee will be sponsoring public meetings on Orcas and San Juan Islands to talk about the plan and accept comments. The San Juan Island meeting will be Wednesday, February 15 from 4-6 pm at the Town of Friday Harbor Council Chambers on Second Street (across from Key Bank).

Sat., Feb. 26th, 1:00 p.m. On Saturday, February 26, 2011, at 1:00 pm meet Dona Wuthnow, Director of San Juan County Parks, to walk through San Juan County Park on San Juan Island. Her talk will focus cultural and natural history highlights of the area. Meet at the San Juan County Park Office on Westside Road. The length is .25 mile and will take one hour. The terrain is road and rustic trail, and the rating is 'easy'. Due to the great interest in these walks, carpooling is appreciated.

The San Juan County Land Bank invites you to learn about and help with ongoing wetland restoration at Beaverton Marsh Preserve.

Help us plant native trees and shrubs at two volunteer work parties:
WHEN: Sunday, February 27 and Saturday, March 5 (rain or shine).
12:00 " 4:00 Beginning with an interpretive talk.
WHERE: Beaverton Marsh Preserve, 1681 Roche Harbor Road.
Park at the corral 1/3 mile north of Sutton Road
(limited space - carpooling encouraged)
Food and Beverages Provided! Wear rubber boots, work clothes, and rain gear.

-March 26, 10:00-noon: TUNE-UP / WARM-UP event planning at FH Elementary School - Save this date if you like to bike or can help out!

It’s time to grease the chain, raise the saddle another inch (or two), and check those brakes. Come join us for a morning of demonstrations, Q & A, and hands-on bike-mechanics. A limited supply of helmets will also be available for a suggested donation. Then kick off the biking season with a warm-up ride on your own or with friends. Route suggestions based on skill levels will be provided. New riders, Families and cyclists of all ages and abilities are encouraged to attend! Your photos are needed by Feb. 20th!

Our annual Trails Committee potluck is on March 9th this year, at the Mullis Center. Our theme is " Signs, Gates, Stiles, Bridges and other trail features", so we're asking you to send any interesting photos from your travels that fit into this category.Please send them to David Dehlendorf --- He prefers a thumbnail drive, or e-mail. We need all submissions by Feb. 20th. David has graciously volunteered to put together a slide presentation , so a description should accompany the photos. Your participation is much appreciated!

Volunteers for trail walks - the 4th Sat. of every month trail walks need more volunteers esp. those with 1st Aid training. See the website at for details and contact Eileen Drath to volunteer.
