01/14/2011: "Soroptimist’s Cancer Support"

Friday, January 14, from 6-9 pm at the Mullis Center - the Soroptimist program that provides ferry tickets to islanders with cancer who must travel to the mainland for treatment had a fund raiserFriday -but one can still donate.

Last year, the club spent a whopping $18,000 on the program -and the letters/emails of appreciation that the club received from the cancer patients, their family and friends emphasized the importance of continuing this valuable service for our community.

If you’d like to help keep the program going, come to the “girls’ night out” Para-dice Bunko Party on Friday,at the Mullis Center. Even if you’ve never played Bunko before, you’ll have a great time! The game is easy to learn, and instruction will be provided. Beverages (beer, wine, sodas, and coffee) will be available, and there will be lots of prizes and raffles.

Tickets for the event are $20 each, and must be purchased in advance. Admission includes the bunko games and prizes, appetizers and dessert. Buy your tickets now until January 14 at the Toy Box and Spa d’Bune, or at sales tales at Kings (January 7,8 and 9) and at Marketplace (January 7-8), from 10am to 4pm.

Note: The party this year has a tropical theme, so plan to come attired in something bright and colorful!
