12/06/2010: "OPALCO Not To Blame"
A "jumper Cable" at the Lopez sub-station failed, causing first a brown-out at 11:30 am and them complete power lost for around 9,000 customers of the San Juan Islands, with the exception of Lopez. The brown-out caused some electrical motors to heat up and start smoking, and this cause at least one roll-out of the Fire Department on San Juan Island. By 3:00 pm the jumper cable had been replace and things were, for the most part, back to normal.
