06/06/2010: "Monday SJ Golf & Country Club Leo Fund Raiser"

Monday, June 7, 2010 Shotgun Start: 5:30 p.m. (Putting Contest: 4:45 pm) The SJ LEOs are preparing for their fourth annual golf tournament, which is their only fund-raiser each year. Come join the fun on June 7, 2010 and help make this another successful event!

LEO Clubs are sponsored by Lions clubs to inspire volunteerism and leadership in young people ages 12 and up. The SJ LEO (young Lions) club was organized in 2006. In January of 2007, a Charter Night Celebration was held to induct 24 charter-members.

It was indeed a celebration and the start of a very productive club. Some of the projects undertaken have become annual obligations, such as the SJI Prevention Coalition’s New Year’s Eve Party and the Children’s Festival; others include building a replacement dock on Egg Lake (the first was built forty years ago by the San Juan Lions), an “Extreme Home Makeover” to help an elderly widow; and ongoing projects such as Leos putting muscle into chopping and delivering fire-wood for the elderly, helping at the SJI Community Sports Park, maintenance at the Historical Museum, and helping out with our County Parks.

Currently there are 25 San Juan LEO members working hard in our community. There are 5,807 LEO Clubs around the world.

If you are unable to attend, you can still help the Leos continue to be a positive presence in the community by taking a moment to send a pledge in to PO Box 54. If you have questions about the event or sponsorship, please contact an advisor: Casey Baisch 317-5559; John Bostrom 298-1256; Lisa Brown 378-6755; Barbara Ray 378-2519; John Towson 378-3843, and John Wickham 370-7178

The San Juan Leos are pleased to announce that Islanders Bank is the primary sponsor of this event. Our special thanks to Islanders Bank!
