06/04/2010: "Veterans Museum Opens"
The Friday Harbor Veterans Museum will open Friday, June 4th for the summer season with many new exhibits and displays that highlight the service of our island’s veterans. Museum hours for the general public are Fri, Sat & Sun 10 AM - 2 PM through Labor Day.
Legion members and guests can view the museum anytime the Club Lounge is open. Admission is FREE, however, donations are gladly accepted! Private and group tours can be arranged. The museum is located at 110 First Street, right next door to the Whale Museum!
Thanks to the San Juan Island Community Foundation and the San Juan County LTAC we have replaced and expanded our Civil War and World War I displays! Come take a look and tell your guests this year to visit these very unique displays! The museum is an exceptional statement by our local veteran community.
The museum also includes an extensive research and video library. School groups and Elder Hostel tours are welcome. Information regarding American Legion/Auxiliary Membership and Veterans benefits for qualified veterans are also available at the museum.
