ig_Charlie_Wiggins-001 (29k image)Meet Charlie Wiggins, Candidate for Supreme Court Justice In Friday Harbor, Saturday, June 5 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at the Friday Harbor House, San Juan Meeting Room, 130 West Street in Friday Harbor. Wiggins is running against Justice Richard Sanders for election to the Washington State Supreme Court.

"We are very fortunate to have a State Supreme Court candidate visit Friday Harbor," said Prosecuting Attorney Randall K. Gaylord. Mr. Gaylord added "I encourage folks to take a few moments from their morning to stop by and meet Charlie."

Mr. Wiggins has 34 years experience as a lawyer, primarily handling hundreds of appeals in every type of case that comes before the court. He has served as a Court of Appeals judge, and as a pro tem judge in a variety of cases in King County and in Jefferson County Superior Courts.

Wiggins trip is being sponsored by Randall Gaylord -who is the current San Juan County Prosecutor, and who is also running for office, but to re-elected as SJC Prosecutor. Gaylord sent out a press release that listed Wiggins' record as one that "speaks for itself * Integrity-Never charged with any ethical violation, Charlie has served as a disciplinary hearing officer and chair of the Bar Association Disciplinary Board; * Impartiality-Having represented all types of clients on both sides of almost every issue, Charlie has no agenda but to reflect the constitution and laws of the state without bias or prejudice; * Independence-Charlie has worked diligently to protect the courts from the influence of large special interest money, lobbying to extend campaign finance limits to judges, for a recusal rule, and for public financing. * Rated as Exceptionally Well Qualified by the King County Bar, the Latina/o Bar, and the Loren Miller Bar, and Well Qualified by the Wash. Association of Prosecutors.
