05/14/2010: "Marsh May 22 Work Party"
Beaverton Marsh Preserve Work Party Series continues Saturday May 22th, 10:00am-2:00pm with a "Planting Party" (Additional work days: May 29, 30 and 31). Bring: Water, gloves, and rubber boots. Questions: 378-4402 or 468-2808 or email: madrona.blue@gmail.com
Meet: Limited parking next to the corral on Roche Harbor Rd. (look for the sign) and at the base of Hillview Terrace. Carpooling is recommended. Please call to arrange a shuttle from the Hillview Terrace parking area.
Come join Land Bank volunteers as they plant native trees, install deer protection fencing, and remove noxious weeds at lush Beaverton Valley Marsh, which hosts flotillas of migrating waterfowl every year.
Native trees and shrubs are being planted to enhance the wetland’s diversity and improve its habitat value for birds and amphibians. Tools, snacks and beverages will be provided.
Throughout the year Land Bank volunteers are needed to maintain a seed bed, collect seeds, and assist with additional plantings in the Fall. If you are interested in participating with this project or any of the many efforts taking place over the summer, please contact us - sjclandbank@rockisland.com.
