05/12/2010: "FH Silver Tea & Quilt Show"
The Silver Tea, an annual family friendly event hosted by the Historical Museum, will take place in the historic James King farmhouse. Saturday, May 15, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Recall a simpler time with an afternoon enjoying traditional teas, sandwiches and baked goods reminiscent of the Victorian era, with musical accompaniment by Jazz Pianist David Bayley.
The Quilt Show will take place in the Etta Egeland Resource Center. Join quilt historian Karen Alexander and quilt restoration specialist Anne Dawson for their interactive program “Quilt Scene Investigators.” Karen and Anne will evaluate the age, identity, and condition your quilt"antique to new"and provide recommendations for how to care for your treasures.
You will also pick up a bit of quilt history along the way, as select quilts from the museum’s collection will be interpreted. Karen and Anne are both Lopez Islanders, with at least 45 years of quilt study between them.
Suggested donation for both events is $5, per person and $10 for families. Museum members no charge. Evaluation of your own personal quilts is being offered for the price of $25 for two quilts, or $20 for one quilt. Advance reservation is required for personal quilt analysis.
