04/07/2010: "Boarding Student Seriously Injured"
A student at the Spring Street international School in Friday Harbor was a passenger in a car crash, fatal to three other passengers, which occurred at approximately 4:40am in North Seattle on Easter Sunday morning.
Ashlynn, her taken English name, -whose full name is being withheld for family confidentiality- is a 10th grade exchange student attending Spring Street International School (SSIS). She is being cared for at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. She is currently in serious condition, downgraded since Sunday from critical, with acute head trauma and other injuries due to the severity of the crash.
Ashlynn has been studying at Spring Street International School since the late fall of 2008, planning to get her diploma and attend an American University for her higher education. She was spending Saturday night with friends when the tragic accident happened.
Our main focus this week is to support her and her family and to ensure our own families and students have all the support they need to come to terms with this terrible news. Her family is with her at the hospital and Louis O’Prussack, Head of School for SSIS, has been with her and the family since Sunday. The school community of SSIS all send their deepest, heartfelt wishes to her immediate relatives and close friends for her swift recovery.
