02/16/2010: "Fairgrounds Expansion Approved"

The County Council approved an "Ordinance Establishing a Fairgrounds Overlay District and Amending the San Juan County Comprehensive Plan Land Use Element and Official Maps" on Tuesday after holding a public hearing at which no one testified for or against the proposal. ( Previous Story

The Council had received a Staff Report on the proposal, but had few questions. It was explained to the council the ordinance is only the first step in allowing an expansion of the the fairgrounds and an expansion of what may be done there, but that is yet to come as a master plan is developed
