02/02/2010: "At The Fairgrounds With John"
John Geniuch works as a building permit Plans Examiner for the County, but in his past life he worked for 14 years as a tree climber in Oregon, and a few years in the Lake Tahoe area of California.
it came to John’s attention that a dead tree at the County Fair Grounds had to be removed, and because it was near a number of buildings, it had to be removed with some skill.
Since John still had the equipment and the skill to take down the tree, he did the island thing and volunteered to climb up it, cutting branches off as he went, then take it (and 2 small ones) down piece by piece.
Given his background, and that he has kept a 1 million dollar liability policy active for everyone's protection, his offer was accepted; so on a rainy Saturday last week, John worked his way up the tree, and then he -and the tree- came back down, one section at a time.
John said “I have offered to help the fair grounds because i know budgets are very tight and the Fair doesn't have a lot of money and volunteer work is always appreciated. I have been in this community for over 2 years now and feel welcomed. My wife and I really enjoy the county fair and all the people so it is my chance to give a little back.
It would appear Mr. and Mrs. Geniuch are a good fit for the community.
