10/16/2009: "$50K Matching Funds For Phone-A-Thon"
KINGS MARKET AND FRIDAY HARBOR MARKETPLACE corporation (Valmark) have pledged $50,000.00 in a matching funds challenge to raise at least $100,000. The money will be used only for textbooks and equipment for the SJI school district.
The annual Phone-A-Thon for the SJ Public Schools Foundation starts on Monday, October 19 from 5:00 to 8:00pm. volunteers will be calling Island families to invite them to contribute towards the Foundation goal of over $50,000 to be matched, dollar for dollar, by Valmark T
The Foundation is a group of volunteer parents, educators, business leaders, and community sponsors who raise money to make a difference in the classrooms of our school children. They work year-round on projects that put 100% of the proceeds from the Phone-A-Thon, the Knowledge Bowl, the Business Partnership Program and other activities into the classrooms at the public elementary, middle and high schools.
We hope that the community will respond generously again this year for our kids. Parents, faculty and members of the community have volunteered to work the phones the night of the Phone-A-Thon.
On our island community, quality education is everybody’s business. Anyone wanting to support our the matching program can send a donation to the San Juan Public Schools Foundation, P.O.
