09/01/2009: "Windermere San Juan Sells Itself"

The local San Juan Windermere franchise has been sold by John Dunning, to Terra Corporation, owned by Jim Scott et al of Anacortes, and to the broker for Windermere San Juan, Gary Franklin.

The Scott family owns two other franchises, Windermere Real Estate/Skagit Valley in Mount Vernon and Windermere Real Estate/Anacortes Properties.

Mr. Scott has been involved in commercial and residential real estate for nearly 40 years. County residents may also recognize the Scott name as the name of a book store, also in Anacortes, and also owned by the Scotts’.

John Dunning said he will retain ownership of the Orcas Windermere office in Eastsound, and also Windermere Vacation Rentals San Juan.

Dunning will open a new office in Friday Harbor for his vacation rental business.

While Mr. Dunning sold the business, the building is still owned by Gordy and Lori Petersen. Mr. Petersen said: “The Scotts will be strong players in the San Juan real estate market. They have been very successful in their many business ventures and I feel they are able to offer a stable and encouraging working environment for the many professional and highly motivated agents who now work at the firm.”
