06/14/2009: "One Dead From Canoe Capsize"

The Skagit Valley Herald has reported that a vacation in the San Juans came to a tragic end late this week for a Californian couple as they were attempting a trip to Anacortes after camping on Jones Island.
The Coast Guard responded to a call for assistance from witnesses, and found a woman next to the canoe, but her companion was missing, then found near shore. CPR failed, and he was pronounced dead. They were reported to have both been wearing lifejackets.
