04/28/2009: "CC Clerk Resigns To Work For The Honorable Senator Ranker"
While there are some obvious advantages of having a home town boy as your State Senator, there can also be some disadvantages. One of those was manifested this week when it came to light that Senator Ranker had recognized some talent when he saw it, and offered a major staff position to the Ann Larson, Clerk to the County Council for San Juan County.
Chairman Rich Peterson made the announcement on Monday, after Larson submitted a letter of resignation to the Council. Larson intents to leave on June 5, after having been the Clerk for just over one year.
Larson said while she has “enjoyed working with each of you…I must pursue this incredible opportunity.”
Larson plans to continue to live on San Juan Island, and commute to a new field office she and Ranker will open up on the mainland.
As for the Council lacuna, Larson has promised to “do whatever I can to make this transition a smooth one.” The Council was not very pleased to receive the news, but all wished her well. As for their feelings on the Ranker raid of their staff, well…not as pleased.
