04/23/2009: "Customs To Address CC"
"Border Control Practices" will be the topic at the County Council meeting at 1:00 p.m. on Monday (4-27-09) when Barry Clement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection Friday Harbor Port Director, will show us for his Council invitation to discuss how things are done when the public needs to check in on arrival from, say, Canada.
The invitation was made after a recent incident involving an American tourist who attempted to check in to Customs, but failed to follow the proper procedure, following instead what he had been incorrectly informed to do. this resulted in one very "Unhappy Boater," and the possibility of a $5,000.00 fine.
