03/13/2009: "Update On Tragic Orcas Accident"

Nathan J. Tyler, a 35 year old resident of Orcas was the only victim of the accident on Orcas that occurred when his car plunged over a 60 foot cliff and landed upside down in the water.

The accident killed Mr. Tyler. The accident is presumed to have occurred on Sunday, March 8th, but the car was not discovered until Tuesday night. The speed of the car in combination with ice on the road, a steep curve and the lack of an adequate guard rail, may have all combined to the car leaving the roadway.

Many on Orcas remember him as one of the workers that helped direct cars at the Orcas ferry landing.
