02/19/2009: "Lincoln Day Dinners In SJC"

Celebration dinners honoring the 200th birthday of Abraham Lincoln were held Friday on Orcas, Lopez and on San Juan Island Saturday.

On Orcas the featured speakers were John Evans on the Critical Areas Ordinance; and Freddie Simpson, Washington's National Republican Committee. The SJI & Lopez dinners speakers were Jeff Kent; and-Kevin Holmes -a local Customs Officer also spoke on San Juan.

Evans has been standing up for property owners rights for many years on Orcas and in the San Juans, and he gave an update on the Critical Areas Ordinance, and what citizens can do to be involved in the process. Simpson gave a report on what is going on in the Republican party -both the national and state level.

Kevin presented a slide show on his experience of being in the Pentagon on 9/11. Jeff Kent, Vice Chairman of the National Republican Committee and National Committeeman for the Washington State Republican Party will gave an update of National and State Republican news.
