09/17/2008: "New FH Sewer Lines"

So as to not end up dumping raw sewage into the bay, a new sewer line in being installed for the Town of Friday Harbor.

Needless to say, there will be some disruption to traffic and parking, and of course noise and dust.

The project is projected to take a few months as the Town works their way along the streets installing the new line. Work has already begun on Second Street and will continue down Court to First to East. Parking in these areas are to be closed off one block at a time. The estimated completion time per block is one day to one week depend on what they find as they excavate.

A new The pump station does involve some blasting of rock above the Port and behind the Cannery Landing.

The overland pipe- force main portion of the project, going up the first two ferry lanes, begins the first week of October.

This will be contained in the parking lot and should not effect parking or traffic on East Street.
