08/20/2008: "CC Approves $3M Dock"

On Tuesday the Council voted to approve the purchase by Public Works of land and a dock on Orcas for $3 million dollars.

The purpose of the purchase is to provide public access to the water at Orcas, and to allow county boats to be moored there, and to provide parking for county and public vehicles.

At least in the summer months there will also be moorage space for the public, but due to winter storms the large float will be removed. The purchase of the property received wide public support at a public hearing on Orcas.
