08/19/2008: "LC Board Busts 2 Bars"
The Washington State Liquor Control Board (WSLCB) and the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office cited two businesses in San Juan County on Friday, August 8.
The citations resulted from an undercover operation by the two organizations conducted on Lopez, Orcas and San Juan Island, to check for alcohol violations.
The WSLCB regularly works with local authorities such as the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office to visit businesses licensed to sell alcohol. These businesses include spirits, beer and wine restaurants, large grocery chains, neighborhood markets, taverns, wine bars and sports/entertainment facilities.
Of the 10 businesses officers checked during the undercover operation, only two were found to be out of compliance:
Orcas Island
• The Lower Tavern of Orcas Island was cited for over-service, as was their bartender on duty.
San Juan Island
• The China Pearl Restaurant of Friday Harbor was cited for over-service and licensee disorderly on the licensed premises.
Other businesses checked on August 8 and found to be in compliance were on:
Lopez Island
• Galley Restaurant
• Islander Restaurant
Orcas Island
• American Legion
• Rosario Resort
• Vern’s Bayside
San Juan Island
