Chamber Music San Juans presents “Music for a Summer Solstice” on the San Juan Community Theatre’s Whittier stage on Saturday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m.

Artistic director and clarinetist Patricia Kostek brings together some of CMSJ’s favorite performers including violinist Ron Patterson and violist Roxanna Patterson with a new artist to the group: bassoonist and Grammy Award nominee, Martin Kuuskman. Born in Estonia, Kuuskmann is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music and Yale University School of Music.

Kostek notes that Martin’s charismatic and engaging performances throughout the world have earned him repute as a leading young instrumentalist. The New York Times has praised Kuuskmann’s playing as "dynamic...amazing...gripping.”

The Pattersons, Kostek, and Kuuskmann will be joined by pianist Cary Chow and Seattle cellist Kevin Krenz in presenting Poulenc’s cheeky Sonata for clarinet and bassoon, Mendelssohn’s virtuosic Concertpiece for clarinet and bassoon, Mozart’s charming Quartet for bassoon and strings and Brahms’ powerful Quartet in G Minor for strings and piano"musical works perfect for a summer evening,

This performance is sponsored by Kings Market. Tickets are $23 for adults and $12 for student reserved. $5 Student RUSH will be available at the door. A private donor has made provision for free tickets to anyone needing financial assistance to attend a Theatre event.

The SJCT Box Office is open Tuesday-Friday, 11-4, Saturdays 11-2, and one hour before any performance. Call 360-378-3210, or go to www.SanJuanCommunityTheatre.org.
