06/18/2008: "SJ Septic Service Under New Ownership"
San Juan Septic Service Inc., San Juan Island’s septic pumping specialists, is under new ownership. The company was purchased by Friday Harbor couple Ted Leiker and Dolly Salazar, who took over the reins on April 1st from former owner Craig Starr.
“I’m happy to welcome Ted & Dolly to our local business community. I think they’ll do well,” Starr said. Starr will continue to operate Starr Excavations and San Juan Organics, which have served San Juan Island since the 1990s. Starr provides septic excavating services and complete system inspections.
“Craig’s been great to work with throughout this transition. I’m excited to be stepping into his shoes, and to be a business owner again,” says Leiker, who had been self-employed in the swimming pool business before moving to the island in 2005.
The decision to purchase the business was a no-brainer for Leiker and Salazar. “Luckily for us, not too many people want to work with septage for a living,” continues Leiker. “But we saw a strong company with a solid history, so we jumped on it. We’ll continue to offer septic pumping services and basic maintenance checkups , on San Juan, Henry and Shaw Islands, and elsewhere throughout the county.”
For more information about San Juan Septic Service, or to schedule an appointment for a pump-out or checkup, please contact Ted Leiker or Dolly Salazar at 360.378.7255, or sanjuanseptic@gmail.com.
