The Whale Museum is hosting a lecture series that will focus on research projects taking place on the waters around the San Juan Islands. Dr. David Bain of the University of Washington will continue the series at The Whale Museum at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1. Dr. Bain’s talk will cover three focus areas:
(1) a summary of the vessel impact studies with mention of other noise sources such as mid-frequency sonar;
(2) work recently started on pathogens in killer whales and their antibiotic resistance; and
(3) thoughts on how climate change might affect the Southern Resident Killer Whales.
The lecture is free and open to the public, although donations are greatly appreciated. For more information, call (360) 378-4710 ext. 26. The Whale Museum is located in Friday Harbor at 62 First St. N.
