07/10/2017: "Plane Damaged In A “Ground Loop”"
A private plane landing at the Friday Harbor airport Monday afternoon (07-10-17) suffered damage to wing and landing gear when it -for whatever reason- performed a ground loop, which has the result of the pilot fighting to keep the plane moving in a straight line.
According to a witness at Browne’s lumber yard the plane made the landing and then the pilot lost control when the plane made a rapid horizontal rotation causing the plane to veer off the runway, travel down the grass airstrip embankment and head toward the airport fence along Mullis Avenue.
The uninjured pilot was able to taxi back onto the runway and then continue on to the terminal area.
