A new survey by the Rasmussen Reports has found a number of Americans do not agree with the Declaration of Independence.

Here is a quote from the report:
The Declaration of Independence, ratified by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, asserts that “governments derive their only just powers from the consent of the governed.” A new Rasmussen Reports national survey finds that 70% of American Adults agree with that statement, up from 66% last year and up from 56% in 2008. Just 13% now disagree with this assertion, but 17% are undecided. -Rasmussen survey
The survey brings to mind an experiments that reportedly resulted in a surprisingly large number of citizens signing a petition to stop “Women’s Suffrage” in the U.S. Those who signed the petition reportedly were asked why. The general response was along the lines of “women should not suffer.”
In any case: Happy 4th of July.
