01/16/2012: "SJISD Capital Projects & Technology Levy"
On February 14th, the San Juan Island School District will ask voters to renew the Capital Projects and Technology Levy for 4 years. In anticipation of this election, the League of Women Voters is sponsoring an informational Town Hall meeting in order for voters to have a chance to learn the details of the levy request.
Among the speakers are Brent Snow, June Arnold, Rick Thompson, Charles Zalmanek and Glenn Kaufman.
The panelists will make some remarks and then participate in a give and take with the audience. The meeting will be held at the Mullis Center from 5:30 until 6:30pm on Tuesday, January 24th.
40% of this measure is directed to needed improvements at the Friday Harbor Elementary School site, with another 30% investment in district wide technology needs.
A study and survey of all district facilities was completed and posted on the SJSD website at www.sjisd.wednet.edu.
