08/20/2011: "Orcas? Ferry Advisory Committee Has An Opening For You"
There are a number of openings on various committees and boards in San Juan County, and one of those is a current opening on the Ferry Advisory Committee (FAC) that was created with the recent departure of Ed Sutton, who resigned last week after eighteen years of service.
The FAC was established by state law to advise the Department of Transportation’s Ferry division concerning the County’s service needs -and preferences- including fare rates.
The FAC is comprised of one member from each of the four ferry-served islands, plus three additional members representing the County Council, commercial users, and tourism-related users.
FAC Co-Chair Jim Corenman describes the ideal candidate as, “someone who is interested in ferries, works well as part of a group with diverse interests and priorities, and is able to spend the required time.” The committee meets monthly and holds periodic special meetings and appearances with Washington State Ferries and others, both on and off-island.
To apply for the consideration, or to get more information about FAC, click HERE. An application for committee membership is available online, or you can call Maureen See at 378-2898 or email to: maureens@sanjuanco.com .
The FAC maintains a website which contains information about recent activity and issues at: http://sanjuanco.com/fac
