01/11/2011: "An Oath Of Office"

(Sheriff Rob Nou is administered the oath of office by Superior Court Judge Donald Eaton)
On Monday morning the newly elected county officials took the oath of office, and officially could resume serving San Juan County. The County Council members will take the oath at 10:00 am Tuesday (1-11-11) in the Council meeting room
Superior Court Judge Don Eaton noted to a packed courtroom that all of the those being swore in were incumbents, and had not been opposed in the election; with the one exception of a new elected official, Rob Nou, who will replace a retiring official, Sheriff Bill Cumming.
Judge Eaton said he wanted to point that out "because it is a real statement to the fact that the citizens of this county recognize that the incumbents that are being sworn in have provided high quality service, and that is recognized by the community." Adding that he "found that significant."
