07/25/2008: "Harriet Spanel Endorses Ken Henderson"

Harriet Spanel has announced that she is endorsing Ken Henderson over Kevin Ranker in the race for the 40th District Senate seat.
Ranker may feel like he is sitting on a seesaw, first he is up with the endorsement of his party, then down when one of the big dogs in the party, Dave Quall endorses opponent Henderson, but back up again when Jeff Morris came on board.
Now that Spanel has joined in with Quall, her considerable political weight may be enough to keep Henderson elevated above Ranker. Then again, kind of like the weather around here, not happy with it, wait a day; things are bound to change again.
We talked to Spanel back when the race started with a large field of candidates that she knew many of them, including Henderson and Ranker, and had been friends with many of them, including Henderson and Ranker.
In a press release Spanel singled out Henderson, indicating she “has been friends with Ken Henderson for many years, respects him and knows that he will represent the 40th District well.” She cites his years of experience and service to our communities which illustrate his commitment to act on the issues of importance to the district.
"Ken's views on many issues are similar to mine and I appreciate his willingness to listen and his follow through", Spanel stated.
Spanel also remarked that the 40th District is fortunate to have good candidates who took the risk and stepped up to run. In particular, she notes that Ken Henderson and Kevin Ranker have shown that they have the ability to run strong campaigns and would serve the district well.
"I encouraged both to run when they expressed an interest to me last spring. Their styles are different and I respect them both,” She added
