06/01/2008: "The British Are Coming!"

Island Rec has announced that one of the most respected and experienced soccer training organizations in the US, Challenger Sports British Soccer Camps is coming back to Friday Harbor this summer.

This innovative soccer has established itself as a summer favorite activity for many island families and children. All staff are fully qualified soccer coaches who are flown from Britain exclusively to work on these summer camps.

The week-long camp offers exciting sessions for ALL levels of players from the complete novices up to the experienced competitive players. Half-day camps for novice players will be held July 7-11 and August 18-22. Minisoccer for kids ages 4&5 is also scheduled for the July week. A full day camp for experienced players will take place during the August camp.

This is much more than a soccer camp, it is a whole cultural experience as the British coaches come and stay in the communities with families and interact with the players, coaches and parents alike. Enjoy this cultural experience by hosting one of the soccer coaches in your home. Call Sally at Island Rec to volunteer for this opportunity. While on the Island, the British Soccer Coaches will hold a free coaches clinic for local youth coaches.
