10/15/2007: "Phone-a-Thon Fundraiser Monday and Tuesday Night"

Monday and Tuesday night, October 15th and 16th is the San Juan Public Schools Foundation’s annual Phone-a-Thon fund raiser where dozens of volunteers gather to phone our community to ask for support in achieving excellence in our public educational system.

The volunteer who calls you will be prepared to take your pledge and/or can painlessly take your credit card information over the phone. Program organizers are asking that you please, answer the phone and offer your support

Each year public funding for our educational system falls far short of supporting the tools for the curricula necessary to provide the excellent education our students need and deserve. The San Juan Public Schools Foundation is and all volunteer non-profit organization composed of parents and other members of the community who raise money to help fill the gaps left by public funding.

The Foundation has three major fundraisers each year: The Business Partnership Program where island businesses sponsor advertisements in the Schools Foundation published school directory, the Knowledge Bowl where island students are showcased in a contest with local service organizations, and the Phone-a-Thon which is the one time each year where rather than hold auctions, bake sales, etc. island residents are asked directly to give to support excellence in the San Juan Island School System.
