10/04/2007: "Lichter Wants Orcas Meeting, CC Agrees"

Some months ago the County Council agreed to hold some of the their meetings on the other islands, and Councilman Alan Lichter reminded them of that this week when he suggested that the Council hold their October 15 meeting on Orcas.

a number of items of interest to Orcas citizens will be discussed by the Council, and this prompted the Council to act on Lichter’s request. The Council will hold a “special meeting” at the Orcas Senior Service Center on Monday, October 15 .

The agenda will include:

• An update on the review of the 2007 Community Development Block Grant process, which has applications from San Juan Community Housing Trust and Homes for Islanders.
• A progress report on the Orcas Village Plan, including the pending issues of traffic, parking and density, from Planner Colin Maycock.
• A status report on the requirements to bring the Eastsound urban growth area into GMA compliance from Community Development and Planning Director Ron Henrickson.
• A discussion of rental terms for the Farmers Market at Eastsound Village Park, with Parks Director Dona Wuthnow
• An update on the Eastsound Subarea Plan’s public outreach effort, from Eastsound Planning Review Committee Chair, Peter Fisher.
• A discussion of the County Land Bank’s Activities on Orcas.

The meeting will convene at 10:15 a.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Senior Service center at 62 Henry Road in Eastsound.
