05/25/2006: "Teen Library Assistants Sought"
Do you want to learn more about your public library? Want to be involved in providing services for your local community? Want valuable work experience? ---Want to earn some money?
The San Juan Island Public Library is opening 2 Teen Library Assistant positions to begin this June. This may be arranged to include internship credit. This is a paid position - duration: 10weeks, 6 - 10 hrs per week. The deadline to apply is Friday, June 2nd.
Responsibilities will include daily library operations, program planning and implementation, special projects, and public speaking.
The Library's collection includes both fiction and non-fiction books for very young children, for grade-school aged children and for adults. In addition to its collections of books, audio books, DVDs, videos and magazines to loan, the library also provides computers for public use.
Library hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 8 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM. Library cards are free to island residents with proof of residency.
