07/26/2019: "Singing On The Ferry Aug 1"

The Island Chordsmen Plus (mixed gender) barbershop chorus from San Juan Island is presenting two free FERRY SING gatherings this summer, with the first on the 1st of August. That’s a Thursday afternoon/evening.

The program will feature both the chorus and the all woman ensemble “Sound Vibrations” that have performed on the Whittier stage in both the Barbershop Bonanza and San Juan Singer’s shows. The A Cappella songs by both groups will evoke your memories from a year ago to more than sixty years ago.

This free concert takes place on the San Juan inter-island ferry leaving from Friday Harbor at 5:30pm where you will walk on the boat, so plan time to find a parking place uptown or have a friend drop you off at the ferry landing.

Orcas and Shaw islanders are welcome to join, just remember to tear yourselves away when the ferry docks at your islands on return from Lopez. The ferry returns at 8:20 for you clock-watchers.

Taking place during the dinner hour, we suggest you BYOF (food) for a picnic while the singing mingles with the scenery sliding by the windows. A free sea cruise with capital entertainment, it doesn’t get any better! The second FERRY SING will be about a month later in the first week of September, look for another announcement then. Again: Thursday, August 1st leaving on the 5:30 inter-island ferry.
