01/15/2006: "Don't Dress for Dinner Returns to RH Pavilion"

The Benefit Players first production – Don't Dress for Dinner – opened at Roche Harbor Pavilion December 29-30 to enthusiastic audience acclaim, and now returns: curtain time for January 19-21 is 7:30 pm. There is a 2:00 pm matinee January 22. The performances are designated as a benefit for the Susan Eyerly medical fund.

This sophisticated French farce by Marc Camoletti has been adapted for British characters by Robin Hawdon. Directed by Ed Strum, the cast features Eric Concord, Julie Greene, Shannon Kelley, Clay Warner, RuthE. Wells and Hunter Wood in a fast-paced situation comedy filled with witty dialog, physical comedy and compounded mistaken identities. The action takes place in the main living room of a country home some distance from Paris.

Bill Lembeck was in the audience on opening night and remembers that "on a dark, cool, damp, windy night, the last thing we wanted to do was to drive from Cape San Juan all the way to Roche. Boy, am I glad we did! This show isn't just funny; it is side-splitting hilarious! My throat still ached the following morning from all the laughing."

One note of caution for parents: while this wickedly funny play has been universally enjoyed, the adult situations may not be appropriate for younger children.

Admission to the show is by donation ($5, $15, $50, $100 – whatever you want to contribute). The Pavilion Room seats approximately 60 patrons, and a reservation list will be kept until 20 minutes before curtain at each performance. Reservations not claimed at that time will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Curtain time for January 19-21 is 7:30 pm. There is a 2:00 pm matinee January 22. To make a reservation, please call 378-2155.
