The San Juan Island Rotary Club recognized a need for providing assistance to provide basic food items that are easy to prepare and kid friendly for those who have the need.

Working with other local community organizations, a program was started called 36 Weekends, that will “send home nutritious food for kids who might otherwise go hungry over the weekend during the school year.”

Their Webpage states “36 Weekends will launch in Fall of 2018. We will provide information about our budget, number of kids served, our funding goals and other useful information that can aid us in meeting our goal.
In the meantime, here are some quick start up details.

Budget: Our annual budget is $20,000, if we serve 166 kids (we anticipate less.)
Funding: San Juan Island Rotary Club has pledged $8,000 for the 2018-19 school year and another $5,000 for each of the following three years.

United Way has pledged $1500 for the 2018-19 school year.

Donations: Your donations may be tax deducible. The San Juan Island Family Resource Center is our fiscal sponsor. You may donate through PayPal links or directly to SJIFRC-just tell them its for 36 Weekends.
Volunteers: We have a small handful of volunteers to pack small bags but we need back up. Its 30 minutes on a Friday in town-do you have a Friday to spare? Email us!
Students: Looking for community service-here's your opportunity!

Website: This website was generously paid for by 2018 Rotary President, Adam Eltinge. Thank you Adam!

Logo: Or logo is one of a kind. Our gratitude to Jennifer Rigg for her talent and time.
